Route to Parsonage Farm from M5
- M5 to junction 27.
- North on A361 to first roundabout.
- Turn right A396, Minehead road, to first roundabout at Exeter Inn.
- Turn left, still A396, Minehead road, to Black Cat junction.
- This is a staggered crossroads, go straight, A396 (B3222) Dulverton.
- At Exebridge, after sharp left hand bend turn left B3222 to Dulverton.
- You approach Dulverton via Battleton.
- After passing a rather seedy looking garage - no petrol pumps, just cars (and actually the best bunch of mechanics for miles around!) on right, the road bears right, immediately after the bend take the almost hidden turning on the left which immediately goes uphill (Andrews Hill).
- At the top of the hill take right turn uphill next to bungalow for Hawkridge.
- Continue to next T junction.
- Turn left and pass Scatterbrook Farm on right (sign may be missing) to next crossroads (Five Ways Cross).
- Turn right to Hawkridge and pass sign for 3 in 1 hills to come.
- After passing cattle grid, steep hill down, another cattle grid and steep hill up, take third turning on the right marked "Tarr Post" - "Tarr steps. Unsuitable for motors".
- Pass Huntercombe Farm and continue to end of metalled road.
- Take track to the left downhill past Cream Teas sign - care! - surface is uneven. Cross stream and uphill. Pass two cattle sheds.
- Bear right through double gates and you are in our farm yard. Welcome.
Route to Parsonage Farm from Barnstaple
- A361 for South Molton and Tiverton
- At the first roundabout (South Molton signposted right) continue straight on.
- After half a mile the road has lighting and staggered cross-roads. Turn left for North Molton.
- Pass through North Molton bearing right in middle of village and down steep hill, over bridge at bottom and continue up long hill for two miles. Turn right for Hawkridge.
- Straight on at next crossroads (Mudgate Cross) and down hill to cattle grid at White Post.
- Bear left for Hawkridge on metalled road, down hill, over cattle grid and Willingford bridge.
- Take second turning on the left marked "Tarr Post" - "Tarr steps. Unsuitable for motors".
- Pass Huntercombe Farm and continue to end of metalled road.
- Take track to the left downhill past Cream Teas sign - care! - surface is uneven. Cross stream and uphill. Pass two cattle sheds.
- Bear right through double gates and you are in our farm yard. Welcome.
Route to Parsonage Farm from the north
- Route to Withypool and leave Withypool to the SW over the bridge, bearing left up the hill
- After 1½ miles cattle grid. Down steep hill, over bridge at Westwater Farm and up steep hill
- At tee junction marked "Withypool Post" turn left
- Take first turning on the left marked "Tarr Post" - "Tarr steps. Unsuitable for motors".
- Pass Huntercombe Farm and continue to end of metalled road.
- Take track to the left downhill past Cream Teas sign - care! - surface is uneven. Cross stream and uphill. Pass two cattle sheds.
- Bear right through double gates and you are in our farm yard. Welcome.
Under no circumstances be persuaded to attempt to cross the Barle at Tarr Steps by car.
